AT&T has a new 3G capable USB modem: the USBConnect Quicksilver. The USBConnect Quicksilver is available immediately at no cost with a 2-year contract and after rebate. The device will allow you to connect your laptop computer to AT&T's 3G/EDGE wireless networks for wireless internet connectivity from anywhere where you can get cellular reception. The connection will even work overseas at additional cost.

A $60 a month domestic contract will buy you 5GBs of bandwidth on the network, which should be adequate for all but the most extreme power users. People traveling overseas regularly will need to spend somewhere in the range of $109-230 per month depending upon where they're traveling and how much bandwidth they plan on burning through.

If you're a bandwidth-hungry road-warrior, just make sure you wait until you're near a WiFi network to download videos or play online video games, otherwise the 5GB data cap may become an issue and you'll find yourself at the receiving end of a nasty overage bill.

If you're unsure about all these wireless networks and what they're about, make sure you see Obsessable's cellular data basics feature.
