Microsoft denies resurfaced rumours about a Blu-ray optical drive add-on coming to its popular game console.

This isn't the first time rumours have circulated about a potential Blu-ray optical drive add-on for the Xbox 360, nor the first time they've been squelched by Microsoft. Now that the HD DVD high definition video storage format is defunct, it makes sense for the company to consider incorporating a Blu-ray drive into its flagship gaming console. However, Microsoft recently denied the Blu-ray rumour once again to popular UK gaming site EDGE Online, according to Joystiq. That doesn't mean the 360 will never see a Blu-ray add-on, but it does mean that if they are currently working on one, MS isn't quite ready to announce it.
