Google engineers have developed a CAPTCHA-like system, dubbed Mail Goggles, designed to prevent Gmail users from sending emails without proper consideration. The lighthearted tool can be set up to function at nights or on weekends, targeting times users may be fatigued or inebriated - more likely to send an email that may later be regretted. When using Mail Goggles, an attempt to send an email is intercepted by a window requiring the user to solve a series of math problems. Only upon proving some level of cognitive function is the user allowed to finish sending the mail. Mail Goggles is available now to Gmail users under the Gmail Labs settings tab.
