MSI, developer of the popular Wind U100 netbook (pictured), has announced plans to bring a new model to market by the end of 2008, the business-targeted U120. MSI is redesigning the shell to feature squared-off, more professional-looking lines than the rounded U100's, and including a compact 10-inch screen. The initial U120 will ship with a single-core Atom, 1GB of RAM, and a 120GB hard drive; MSI plans to offer solid-state options in the future. Although the netbook was supposed to feature WiMAX networking, implementation problems have forced MSI to go with cellular 3.5G data instead - no word on supported carriers. The U120 is planned for a late November/December release, priced under $600.
