Motorola has issued a statement confirming its interest in developing phones running Google's Android platform. Though the company is a member of the Open Handset Alliance, which worked on developing the platform, it had yet to announce with any degree of certainty that it was working on bringing an Android device to market. Recently, reporters have been speculating as to Motorola's increased interest in the platform, pointing to rumors that the company would place 300 more employees on its Android projects. A company spokesperson declined to comment on the personnel situation, simply reiterating the company's praise for Android and now announcing that it looks forward to producing Android products. Motorola already releases phones running mobile Linux and Windows Mobile operating systems.
