HP is planning to release a consumer-focused smartphone, according to the Wall Street Journal. HP's iPaq brand of smartphones comes from a long pedigree of business focused PDAs, so the new device's consumer focus would be a departure for HP. At this point, not much is known about the device, other than it'll be running Windows Mobile 6.1 as its OS and will first ship to European retail stores.
