Denon has released an expensive Blu-ray component for home theater setups, designed to faithfully output its signal with minimal processing. The $1000 DVD-2500BTCI is a Blu-ray transport - it features no analog stage, so aside from a few connections for remote control, a sole HDMI port is the only output the unit provides. The signal can be connected either directly to an HDTV or routed through an A/V receiver for advanced audio decoding. Denon is emphasizing the signal integrity of the 2500BTCI, adding another layering of shielding besides just the external case, and isolating disc reading from digital processing and power regulation subsystems. Of course, since the Blu-ray content is fully digital, it's inherently resistant to interference; Denon hasn't shown if the output from the player differs from those in the $300 range. In addition to its Blu-ray features, the 2500BTCI plays DVDs, scaled to 1080p, and can read DivX files burnt to disc.
