iRiver has begun offering its 3.3-inch touchscreen SPINN flash portable media player for pre-order, with the 4GB ($250) or 8GB ($290) device expected to ship October 3rd. Originally launched at CES 2008, the multi-functional PMP is highlighted by its unique control system, an analog navigation wheel with haptic feedback that is said to provide intuitive and precise control. Its 480 x 272, Samsung-built AMOLED display is capable of playing back AVI, WMV, and XviD encoded video along with several different photo formats; audio support is available for MP3, WMA, OGG, FLAC, ASF, and APE files. Other features include an FM radio with recording, Flash Lite 2.1 compaitbility, Bluetooth 2.0, and a voice recorder, with the SPINN's battery life estimated at five hours for video or 25 hours for music.
