AT&T leaving DISH Network for DirecTV partnership

Existing customers will be able to keep their DISH bundles after the February launch of DirecTV offerings.

AT&T announced that it will not be renewing its agreement with DISH Network to bundle and sell its DBS satellite services once their contract expires at the end of January, choosing to ally with DirecTV, instead. Current customers will be able to keep their DISH service, but starting in February, AT&T will begin selling DirecTV services in addition to its own U-verse-branded IPTV product. AT&T made no statement as to why it will be switching satellite partners, praising both providers in a customer FAQ on the transition, calling them great alternatives to cable. Details of packages and bundling options with the new DirecTV service are not yet available.
