Toshiba announced its latest 256GB solid state drive, which has a maximum read speed of 120MB per second, and a maximum write speed of 70MB per second. Although slower than Intel's comparable drives, the drive is on the larger end of the SATA SSD spectrum. While samples are shipping out to manufacturers looking to integrate the new drives, mass production won't start till the fourth quarter of this year, with integration of the larger drives trickling into other devices thereafter.
