Toshiba is planning to release the industry's largest capacity 1.8-inch hard disk drive this November, for an undisclosed price. While the company's previous miniature drives were limited to 240GB capacity, rotational speeds of 4,200 rpm, and a 1.5Gbps transfer rate, the flagship MK2529GSG SATA drive offers a full 250GB at 5,800 rpm and data transfer speed of 3.0Gbps. Weighing 62 grams and measuring only eight millimeters thick, the company's tiny drives are often found in portable media devices, like iPods, making the recent drop in iPod classic capacity even more surprising.
