Research in Motion is finally planning to release full-featured Macintosh desktop software for interfacing with its Blackberry devices -- a tool that has been available only on Windows for more than four years. Though the company currently offers PocketMac as a solution (shown above), the software is severely underpowered when compared to the Windows version, lacking support for backup and restore, software updates, modem tethering, and providing only limited media synchronization. Even the $40 third-party option, Missing Sync, fails to compete with RIM's official Windows-only management software, called Desktop Manager. Expected to be released sometime in the first half of next year, the long-awaited update may be developed in-house or by a outside vendor.
