Asus says its adding high-speed wireless broadband to its Eee PC 901 netbooks through the use of HSUPA. The machine's WWAN chipset maxes out at 7.2Mbps, but North Americans will be able to use the new machine with AT&T's currently deployed network, which currently supports a meager 1.4Mbps data rate. ASUS says all Eee PC 901s purchased after October will have the new feature, but hasn't announced whether the pricing will be affected just yet.

I had a laptop with built-in (slow) Edge network a few years back. It wasn't my primary laptop so it was annoying to be paying for a month of service I didn't use.
I prefer my Verizon USB EV-DO adapter since I can use it on more than one laptop and just pay one monthly fee.
