Wacom is rolling out a new software suite to add extra functionality to its budget line of Bamboo stylus tablets. The suite includes Bamboo Scribe, a handwriting recognition program, Bamboo Link, a search tool using pen input to navigate through results, and Bamboo Dock, a front-end for running Bamboo Minis, applets that add pen functionality to existing programs. Users also get access to Bamboo Space, an online-based application for organizing and sharing written notes. The collection is available now, free online for existing Bamboo customers, and will be included in future shipments of Bamboo hardware.

Unbelievably, it is ONLY available to customers who bought the product after the 16th September, 2008. Nice that WaCom treat their loyal existing customers by denying them access to what should be "free software".
If you want this software and you bought your pen before the 16th of September, you'll just have to splash out another £40 to £350 pounds for a new pen.
You know what I think to that? I think the next time I buy a pen and tablet, I'll be having a serious look at the competition!

Your comment is not quite correct. Actually only Bamboo Scribe and Bamboo Link are available only for customers who bought the product after the 16th September 2008. The good news is that Bamboo Space and Bamboo Dock are for free.
