BlackBerry enthusiast site Crackberry has managed to procure an unannounced quad-band GSM smartphone from RIM that is said to be the spiritual successor to the popular Curve 8300-series, currently being referred to as the BlackBerry Javelin 8900. Though its form factor, screen, and non-keyboard face buttons are reminiscent of the company's flagship Bold 9000 handset, the keyboard itself more closely resembles that of the Curve or 8800-series. However, its components, such as a 512MHz processor,  a 480 x 360 display, and both 802.11b/g WiFi and GPS, are more in line with the former model -- save for the lack of 3G -- with some, including the 3.2-megapixel auto-focus camera, even besting the recently-released Bold. Whenever it starts shipping, this device will reportedly be powered by the latest BlackBerry OS, version 4.6.1, and sport 256MB of flash storage.

Given the Slacker software coming to Blackberry, I really feel like I'm going to need one soon. I fondled the Bold recently. It is large, but man is it solid and beautiful. Wish it had the 3.2mp camera of the Javelin though. My time with AT&T is nearly up... we see which of the new BB handsets lands on TMo.
