T-Mobile has confirmed that it is bringing a mobile application store to its phones this November - shortly after the Android launch - and is currently formalizing the rules for developers, for whom a beta will go up shortly. The store, which will be web-based for high-end phones and an integrated program on lesser platforms, will offer both free and for-purchase applications, with free apps not allowed to contain advertisements. The for-purchase apps will place developers in a fee-splitting arrangement with T-Mobile, based on several caveats; by conforming to a standard UI, for instance, or enabling data to be sent over WiFi -- decreasing the load on T-Mobile's network -- developers will receive a larger share of the profits. On the other hand, those making applications identified as falling into the top 60% of bandwidth users will have to pay the provider a monthly fee, ultimately raising the cost to the consumer.
