Hardware startup Slacker has unveiled the second-generation of its self-titled, WiFi-enabled portable media player, a significantly-smaller device known as the G2. The device allows users to create over 100 customized music channels, pulling fresh music (with cover art) when a signal is available and storing content for use when its offline. Forty percent smaller than the original, the Slacker G2 has a new visual interface, and intuitive navigation as well as a longer battery life, and volume normalization options . Available immediately from the Slacker website (and at Best Buy by the holidays), a 25-station version retails for $200, with a 40-station version available for $250. The first version of the player was widely criticized for it's large size as well as its buggy and slow interface, all issues which have seemingly been addressed with the refresh.

hey guys: we just updated our review of the G2. Our original test unit had really crappy audio quality and Engadget and Gismodo both said audio was one of the better features. We got a second unit sent to us and rewrote the review and just reposted it here:

Not sure what you'll do with reviews from other sites. But figured I'd add it in.

We don't cover other sites' reviews right now, but we'll try to add it to the Slacker product page. Thanks for the input :)
