Sony Ericsson has announced the initial release schedule for its highly-anticipated XPERIA X1 Windows Mobile-based smartphone, first unveiled over half-a-year ago. The company will begin shipping this WVGA, QWERTY-slider throughout the UK, Germany, and Sweden on September 30th, following a global launch during London Design Week starting on the 18th. Other Western European countries as well as some in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Latin American regions will reportedly being seeing rollouts throughout the rest of the fourth quarter, although North American, Russian, and Chinese availability will not even be announced until sometime later in the year -- making a rumored 2009 release seem more and more likely, despite previous assurances to the contrary.
