Effective August 16, air travelers carrying notebooks in Transportation Security Administration (TSA)-approved "checkpoint friendly" travel bags will be able to pass through security without having to place their machines in a separate bin for inspection. The rules specify that these bags have a designated laptop-only section that unfolds to lie flat on an X-ray machine belt and contains no metal snaps, zippers, buckles, or pockets.
