Over 60 million programs for the iPhone and iPod touch have been purchased and downloaded from the App Store, said Apple CEO Steve Jobs. while at the same time confirming that the devices feature embedded code that can check an Apple website and remove malicious programs. Jobs told The Wall Street Journal that the backdoor would only be activated in the event that problematic applications happened to pass through quality control, although some users are bristling at the mere existence of such a capability.
