The Powermat Travel Mat, revealed at CES 2009, is a wireless charging device that allows users to charge up to three electronic devices at the same time with one USB port for adding an additional device. According to Powermat, the unit uses magnetic induction technology that charges at an equivalent speed to plug-in methods. Users plug in the Powermat, attached the magnetic receivers to their devices, and lay the devices down on the mat, where they lock on and show charging status via a light. Powermat receivers come as cases, power disks, and docks, each compatible with a particular variety of devices including Apple, LG, and Blackberry phones, headsets, iPods, handheld games, Kodak cameras, GPS units, and others. There is no word yet on prices or availibility, but Powermat has advertised several other Mats such as the Home Mat, Desk Mat, and PC+ Mat.
