Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

At 18.4 inches, Toshiba's Qosmio X500 barely qualifies as a laptop, but its size is a necessary concession when you want extreme gaming performance. In this case, extreme performance comes via Intel's Core i7 processor, which was previously reserved for desktops. The x500 is part of the first wave of laptops to make use of the Core i7 platform.

Buy this laptop and you'll also get a GeForce 250M GTS graphics card with 1 GB of video memory, a multi-touch trackpad, an LED-backlit keyboard, an HDMI port, and a Blu-ray drive. Yep, it's a Toshiba laptop with Blu-ray! Some old wounds heal quickly.

You'll be able to choose between a 1080p and a 720p screen. Pricing hasn't been announced, but the laptop will be released on October 22nd (coinciding with the Microsoft Windows 7 launch), and we'll know more by then.
