The Sony Vaio P's main attraction is its portability; it weighs only 1.4 pounds, and has an 8-inch screen. Equipped with a power-saving Intel Atom processor, its performance should be on par with netbooks from Eee PC and MSI, though it has 2 GB of RAM, more than most of its competitors. Its RAM is adequate for running Microsoft's Windows Vista Home Basic operating system. Most netbooks operate on the older, less-demanding Windows XP, or a light Linux operating system.

The Vaio P also distinguishes itself from the crowd with its screen, which has a resolution 1,600 x 768 pixels, making it much wider than even traditional 16:9 or 16:10 widescreen aspect ratio displays. The striking appearance is complimented with several color choices: black, red, green, and white. You'll also be able to connect to Verizon's 3G wide area network with an integrated card, and the little laptop does GPS as well.
