Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

Samsung's 15.6-inch X520 uses Intel's CULV (Consumer Ultra-Low Voltage) platform, so the manufacturer is able to boast of 9-hour battery life on this laptop. Apart from that, it's an average machine.

Average in this case means a 1.3 GHz Intel dual core processor, Intel GMA X4500M integrated graphics, a 320 GB hard drive, and 4 GB of RAM. At least at first the X420 will ship with Windows Vista instead of Windows 7.

Look for it in Europe this October for somewhere in the vicinity of €700, or about $1,000.
