MSI's GT735 is a gaming-focused notebook with 17-inch screen. A 512 MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3850 chipset renders graphics for the WSXGA+ 1680 x 1050 screen, with a 2.2 GHz AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile CPU running the system. Small features call attention to the notebook's gaming-oriented design, such as the placement of arrow indicators on the W, A, S, and D keys, often used for movement in games. When the laptop is running on AC power, pressing a button enables a "Turbo Drive" mode that temporarily raises the CPU speed for added performance.

The GT735 is equipped with 4  GB of DDR2 memory and has a 320 GB SATA drive for permanent storage - it also supports most any external drive with available USB 2.0, firewire, and eSATA ports. For media playback, the system outputs HDMI video and has a built-in 4.1 speaker system with subwoofer - a feature not often found on notebooks. MSI's ECO Engine power management system claims to balance system performance and battery life by using task-specific power profiles - gaming, movie playback, etc - triggered by a hardware button.
