HP is trying to make the case that not all netbooks have to look and feel cheap (or necessarily be cheap, it would seem) with its Mini 5101 model. While most of the internal specs are familiar to anyone who's ever seen any netbook anywhere before (Intel Atom processor and all that jazz), there are some extra perks included to class this thing up.
First, it has a sleeker, more refined design that you'll usually find in netbooks. It has an almost-full chiclet keyboard, too. To make matters stranger still, the Mini 5101 comes loaded with a speedy 7200 RPM hard drive by default; you don't even usually see those in regular laptops.
Throw in Bluetooth, a 2-megapixel webcam, and WWAN and you're hitting all the bases. The system starts at $449 and goes on sale in late July.
