Slated for release after the CES 2009 event, EMTEC's Gdium Liberty 1000 netbook features a removable 8 GB/16 GB USB flash drive dubbed the "G-Key" that resides in the center bottom of the device. The Liberty 1000 has a 10-inch display with 1024 x 600 resolution, 512MB of RAM, 802.11b/g WiFi wireless connectivity, and three USB 2.0 ports (including the G-Key). In addition, the netbook comes with a Silicon Motion SM502 graphics card, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, and promises up to 4 hours of continuous battery life. The Gdium uses Mandriva G-Linux as its sole operating system and, according to the manufacturer, the system boots in 30 seconds.
