The M1730 is Dell's entry in the XPS series designed for gaming. As such, the laptop contains a 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme processor and two 256MB Nvidia GeForce 8700M GT video cards in a SLI (scalable link interface). The unit supports 4GB of RAM, and contains two 200GB hard drives. It also sports a 17-inch widescreen display running at a 1,920 x 1,200-pixel resolution. The body has speakers and a touchpad that are both illuminated by colored LEDs, with sixteen choosable colors.

You'll also get four USB ports, a FireWire port, a mulitformat memory card reader, a 2-megapixel webcam, a 10-key keypad and full-sized keyboard (both of which can also be illuminated), and a Logitech GamePanel LCD. The Dell XPS M1730 measures 16 inches wide by 11.9 inches deep by 2 inches tall, and weighs 10.6 lbs.

Additionally, Dell created a World of Warcraft Edition of the M1730. It was branded with game-specific artwork and contained up-to-date versions of the game on its hard drive.
