On Tuesday, June 2, 2009, Dell officially announced retirement of the Dell Mini 9 netbook

The Inspiron Mini 9 is Dell's first foray into the netbook market. Competing with Asus' Eee PC, Acer's Aspire One and MSI's Wind, the Inspiron Mini 9 has a glossy 8.9-inch screen, an Intel Atom processor and up to 1GB of RAM. Weighing just 2.28 lbs, Dell's first netbook is offered with Ubuntu Linux or Windows XP, up to a 16GB SSD, built-in Wifi and a 3-in-1 media card reader. Available in white or black, other options include Bluetooth and a choice of 0.3 or 1.3 megapixel webcams. Starting at $349, the Inspiron Mini includes 2GB of free online storage thanks to a partnership with Box.net.
