Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

Averatec's N3400 model finds an unusual neutral point between portability, affordability, and power. Unlike netbooks, it has an Intel Dual Core processor clocked at 2.16 GHz. It's also slightly larger at 13.3 inches, but it's still within the ultraportable range. At $799, its price is a happy medium between the netbook and high-end ultraportable laptops out there.

Other specs include an impressive three gigabytes of memory, a not-so-impressive Intel X4500HD integrated graphics chip, a 250 GB hard drive, a 1.3-megapixel camera. It also comes with an external DVD writer. It's available right now.
