The new 13.3-inch MacBook, introduced in late 2008, brought with it a number of overhauls from the previous models. Among the new features is a metal unibody casing that is cut out of a single block of aluminum, creating what Apple claims is stronger frame with less weight. In addition, the display received a facelift, building LED backlighting into a glossy display with black trim.

Also new to the line is a multitouch trackpad which forgoes the traditional button of most trackpads, instead making the entire trackpad a physical button. The pointing surface also recieved further multitouch upgrades, including a smooth glass surface which can accept two, three or four finger touch gestures.

The base model, offered at $1,299, will contain an 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM and a 160HDD. An upgraded model, offered at $1,599, will have a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM, a 250GB HDD and a backlit keyboard. All models feature a Mini-DisplayPort connector, MagSafe power adapter and slot loading SuperDrive. Both models can be upgraded to include 4GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD and adapters for older display types such as DVI, Dual-DVI and VGA.
