Like its sibling, the m15x, Alienware's Area-51 m17x laptop is aimed squarely at high-end gamers. Weighing a bulky 10.5 lbs., the m17x is powered by an Intel Core 2 Extreme X9000 processor and can sport two 500 GB 5400rpm hard drives that total a hefty 1 TB of total storage. The 17-inch widescreen LCD provides a 1920 x 1200 native resolution and comes with two NVIDIA GeForce 8600M graphics cards (with even more powerful options available for more money), up to 8 GB of RAM, a TV tuner, DVR functionality, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity, an HDMI output, and four USB 2.0 slots. An optional Blu-ray drive is available.
