The TiVo Series3 is a dual tuner DVR that can record up to 300 hours of standard definition programming, or 30 hours of HD programming which is an upgrade inasmuch as the Series2 is unable to record HD programming, and holds only 80 hours of standard defnition programming. The most unique feature of the TiVo Series3 is its TiVo Desktop Software. This program allows you to stream your recorded shows to either your computer or a portable media player. Likewise, you can stream content from your computer to your TiVo allowing you to play music or video of your choice.
TiVo touts this unit as the only THX-approved DVR on the market. Being a dual tuner DVR, you can record two shows that are airing simultaneously on it. You can also, like other DVRs, pause and rewind live broadcasts.
