Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

The new TiVo HD XL is the successor to the previous TiVo HD DVR. What distinguishes it from its older sibling are its 1TB (terabyte) hard drive, which allows for 150 hours of HD recording (compared to the TiVo HD's 20 hours), the included backlit remote, and its THX certification. Aside from that, it's got the same specs: dual-tuner HD recording, which allows the user to record one channel while watching another via CableCard, reception of over-the-air TV signals, the ability to pause and rewind live TV, a 30-second skip feature that enables passing directly over recorded commercials, and its own electronic programming guide comparable in function to the standard guides that most cable companies offer.

On the HD side of things, the TiVo HD XL offers full resolution and aspect-ratio control over shows during playback, allowing the user to optimize the video signal. Additional services include compatibility with Amazon's Unbox video service and Rhapsody's music stream, Home Movie Sharing with other TiVo users, and online scheduling of TiVo recording sessions while away from the actual physical unit, via its WiFi connection. The TiVo HD XL measures 16.5 inches wide by 12.6 inches deep by 3.4 inches tall, and weighs 11.9 pounds.
