The Neuros OSD 2 is the successor of the Neuros OSD, an open source set top box designed to record, archive and play back video content from almost any source. The Neuros OSD 2 improves upon the original by adding component input and output for HD recording, HDMI output for HD playback, and an internal hard drive. Since it runs on open source software, the Neuros OSD 2 supports a laundry list of different video codecs including H.264, DivX and Xvid, and can also play music, display pictures, stream YouTube videos right to your home theater system and the functionality is always growing thanks a community of active developers. While the Neuros OSD is currently available, the OSD 2 is still heavily under development. A development kit is available for purchase, but it's really aimed at developers intending to write applications for the box. No final release date has been set on the final version of the OSD 2.
