Featuring full 1080p HD and a digital media port compatible with Walkman and iPod devices, Sony's 7.1 channel AV receiver contains four HDMI connection inputs and built-in decoding for sound formats like Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby TrueHD. The STR-DG820 is similar to Onkyo's TX-SR705 receiver, but includes an extra HDMI input, 110 watts per channel (10 more than the SR705), and lacks the video upconversion function of Onkyo model. Compatability functions are available with certain Sony Bravia screens, and users can plug in an included microphone to callibrate the sound system based on their home theater dimensions. The Sony STR-DG280 sells for a retail price of $499.
