The TX-SR506 is an HDMI capable AV receiver with 1080p compatibility (including both pass-through and switching abilities), meant for affordable home theatres with a price several hundred dollars less than its $600 SR605 counterpart. This 7.1 channel receiver functions at 75 or 100 watts per channel, depending on set-up, and has ports for HDMI (3 inputs and one output), audio I/O, S-Video, component video, and more. The SR506 also includes several audio enhancing systems, notably upconverting to improve standard audio quality, automatic acoustic detection with speaker calibration, loudness correction, and music optimization for MP3 players.
