Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

The Sharp Aquos DX2 series is the world's first HDTV with a built-in Blu-ray recorder. It's pretty standard apart from that breakthrough feature; this model's resolution is 1080p and the dynamic contrast ratio is 15,000:1.

If you want to spring for expensive writable Blu-ray discs, though, you can record up to 30 hours of high-definition video on just one using this set. Compression is MPEG4, hence the greater length than traditional, professional Blu-ray video (which is compressed in MPEG2 — higher quality, but uses more space). Videos should still look pretty good.

This 46-inch model will go on sale in Japan on September 15th for ¥380,000, or about $3,915. No North American or European release plans have been announced.
