Sharp's Aquos DX series is the first to offer LCD Tvs with a built-in Blu-ray recorder, ranging from 26-inches to 52-inches in size. All models feature a Digital W Tuner that allows consumers to record in H.264/AVC format and watch TV at the same time, though it remains to be seen if Blu-ray discs are a more functional option than DVR set-top boxes. The 42-inch LC-42DX1-B, like all offerings between 52 and 37-inches, features a full HD display with 1920x1080 resolution, a brightness of 450cd/m2, and a 2000 : 1 contrast ratio. With a 20 watt audio output (down from the 30 watts offered by larger models) and the standard array of connectivity options including HDMI (two), VGA (two), a DVI, an S-Video, composite (three) and analog RGB inputs, black, white and red versions ship with the rest of its siblings on November 20th to Japan.
