Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

Originally announced at CES 2009, the Samsung 8000 Series 54.6-inch HDTV uses edge-mounted LED backlighting technology instead of the traditional CCFL tech to provide for deeper blacks and better color quality. The technology is not unique to Samsung, but the 8000 Series is among the first releases to employ it. It also refreshes at 240 Hz, twice the usual standard for new LCDs.

Apart from that stand-out feature, it has the features you expect from a high-end TV: FullHD 1080p resolution, 2 millisecond response time, and four HDMI ports for connecting to Blu-ray players, satellite or cable receivers, and game consoles. Samsung hasn't revealed the actual dynamic contrast ratio, instead opting to call it "Mega Dynamic Contrast." Helpful, we know!

The 8000 Series also has Samsung's Touch of Color aesthetic, which mixes deep colors in with the traditional piano black look. You can connect it to the internet and to receive content provided by Yahoo!, including news, weather, and photos from the Flickr web community.
