The tv's 720p true HD picture is a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) which is widely considered to provide the best picture in a brightly-lit room. The 500:1 contrast ratio displays a range of darks and lights in the picture that is expected for a tv of this price. External devices can be connected through component, S-Video or composite video inputs however, there is no tv tuner installed so getting HD programming would require a cable or satellite box to be installed.
