Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

Lots of manufacturers these days are straddling the line between computer monitors and HDTVs — if such a line even really still exists. ASUS has done so before, but the T1 series is its strongest attempt.

The ASUS 24T1E is a 23.6-inch HDTV with tuners for both digital and analog broadcast standards in Europe. It's a full 1080p resolution; that used to be unusual in smaller TVs but it's becoming increasingly more common. The contrast ratio is 20,000:1 and the response time is a good-but-not great 5 milliseconds. Brightness measures at 300cd/m2. Inputs include HDMI, composite, component, D-sub, IEC, S-Video, SCART1, and SCART2.

There's not much in the way of innovation here, but it looks like a solid set. Pricing and availability specifics haven't been announced, but so far only a European release is confirmed. That doesn't mean there won't be a North American one though.
