Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

The Navigon 8100T is a widescreen 4.8-inch LCD GPS navigation device. The maps preloaded on the device include the United States (all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands) and Canada, and, for the life of the device, the user receives free real-time traffic updates. With the traffic data, the user can use one-touch rerouting and voice destination entry to avoid traffic jams. The Navigon is powered by a 533 MHz Samsung processor and is built on the Microsoft Windows CE Net 5.0 operating system. Additional maps can be downloaded to the system from information on an SD (Secure Digital) card or via USB 2.0 connection to a computer.

One of the major features of the unit is its Panorama View 3D, a display that visualizes the road ahead with the surrounding landscape and elevation indications. The device supports not only Bluetooth technology, effectively turning into a speakerphone with the addition of a cell phone, but also stores the user's contacts which can be accessed through the touchscreen (contacts can be imported from Microsoft Outlook).
