Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

Magellan's Maestro 4250 is a voice-activated GPS receiver and navigation system with Bluetooth support. The unit features a 4.3-inch 480 x 272 WQVGA touchscreen that displays the expected 2D and 3D maps, also offering a 2D mode with a 3D splitscreen that kicks in when there's an upcoming turn. The unit comes loaded with US and Canadian maps, including six million points of interest. At under an inch thick and weighing under half a pound, the 4250 is usable as a portable device away from a vehicle, granting up to three hours use per battery charge.

Bluetooth functionality allows the 4250 to work as a speakerphone, relaying calls to a nearby mobile phone with its built-in microphone. That same microphone enables the 4250 to accept voice commands, a relatively uncommon navigator function at the time of the unit's release. Although the user can perform basic device control and change route options with the spoken instructions, Magellan's unit doesn't support spelling out addresses for destination entry, as some other manufacturers' models do.
