Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

The Garmin Nuvi 260W is a widescreen/touchscreen GPS on the high end of the 200-series of navigators from Garmin. It is an upgrade in screen only from the Nuvie 260.  The 260W has a 4.3 inch widescreen format (which is what the ‘W’ in the name denotes). And, like the rest of the Nuvi line, the screen is exceptionally bright making it easy to read even in direct sunlight.

It comes preloaded with City Navigator NT and Garmin’s standard POIs. It’s got an SD memory slot and a USB port for adding your own POIs, also. It’s got a 5 hour run time when unplugged, and is slim enough to fit in a jacket pocket for when/if you take it out of the car.

Of the 200 series, the 260, the 260W, and the 270 are the only units to have “text to speech” which allows them to “read” the names of streets and pronounce them rather than just saying “turn left in 100 meters.”
