Arguably a replacement for the now-defunct eTrex line of GPS devices, Garmin's Dakota is a smaller, cheaper cousin to the company's popular Oregon models.
Pick up the Dakota 20 for $349.99 this fall and you'll get a 2.6-inch LCD, 20 hours of battery life, a pre-installed basemap (but no other maps), and storage for up to 200 tracks — much more than predecessors.
This model also supports paperless geocaching, and unlike its less-expensive little sibling the Dakota 10, it has an SD card slot, a digital compass, and a barometric altimeter.
