Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

Xvid

Xvid is a video codec based on the MPEG-4 standard for video compression. Xvid is a free alternative that acts as a primary competitor to the DivX codec for distribution of full size video over the internet. Popular with video pirates, Xvid is free and can be used across a wide variety of platforms and unlike its primary competitor, DivX, Xvid doesn't require any sort of licensing fee to be implemented in any hardware devices.  This, along with compatibility for most video players such as Winamp or Windows Media Player, makes Xvid a popular choice for those making non-commercial videos for release on the Internet.
