Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

web browser

A web browser is a software application that allows the user to interface with information on the World Wide Web or within a local area network. The information the user sees and interacts with can include text, images, videos, music, games and other applications. The browser formats HTML information for display, such that the same code in HTML may be displayed differently within different browsers. Some of the most popular web browsers are Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Opera, Konqueror, and Google Chrome (released in December 2008). Some browsers include components that allow the user to interface with a wider variety of net-based sources. Usually referred to as Internet suites or application suites, these browsers may support Usenet news, Internet Relay Chat (IRC), and e-mail.
