A video card is a peripheral hardware component whose primary purpose is to process an display images on a monitor. This is done by leveraging the power of a dedicated graphics processing unit (GPU) and memory. Video cards are commonly used in gaming, where the latest in high power is important, but is also vital for graphics designers and 3D artists in order to speed up rendering as well as add mroe quality to what is being displayed. The two largest and most popular video card companies are Nvidia and AMD.
