UMTS

UMTS stands for Universal Mobile Telecommunications System. One of the third-generation (3G) cell phone technologies, UMTS offers services like speech and SMS in addition to bearer services. The latter of the sets of service give the user the capability to send and receive data between access points. The interface known as W-CDMA is the most common form of UMTS presently. With other network technologies on the field, UMTS is occasionally marketed as 3GSM (noting the combination of 3G and the GSM standard). UMTS offers users improved network security for all data transfer (including voice) and enhanced location-based services.
